In recognition of 2020's National Work Life Week, the IAL Collaborative re-launched the popular CEO Forum with a focused discussion on wellbeing at work and work life balance.

We were joined by Cindy Sparrow who returned to the IAL CEO Forum to follow up on her June 2020 presentation on 'Leading through COVID: Managing change and mental health'.

Cindy focused on loneliness in leadership as well as surge capacity and the impact this can have on our work and more generally, in our lives.

Our focused discussion was on recruiting and onboarding staff in a remote environment.

We were thrilled to be joined by Wendy Hiley of APD Communications who has overseen large-scale recruitment and onboarding of staff during the COVID-19 pandemic.  Wendy was keen to share her expertise and details of the new remote recruitment processes that she has enacted, which realise business needs whilst maintaining that crucial human focus.

The Retention Crisis: Addressing the Membership Drop-off

The challenge of membership retention is not new. During the good-ole days of 2019, American associations were posting average renewals of 78% (individual membership associations) and 89% (trade associations), leading some to take retention and renewals for granted. Considering all that 2020 brought with it - worldwide pandemic, heighted civic unrest, an unstable economy, member retention is now more than a challenge its an urgent crisis. Depending on your diversity of revenue and with the absence of event income, membership renewal may be absolutely necessary to your organization this year. So what are you doing about it?

We were joined by IAL Strategic Advisor Elisa Pratt to discuss 2021 retention realities and methods to reengage you members in order to maximize renewal.

Together we discussed:

  1. Defining and Delivering Value Above All Else
  2. Double Down on Relationships & Empathy
  3. Customer service is EVERYTHING
  4. New Opportunities for Growth
  5. Your Ideas and Group Discussion
