News from the IAL office:
The IAL office has mailed out to date 3 new starter kits and has recently made 10 additional kits. The kits include:
a. Windshield stickers
b. Emergency Cards for neck breathers
c. Samples of club newsletters
d. Sample of IAL newsletter and card for ordering the IAL newsletter ( no prescription currently by $10.00 donation to the IAL is appreciated to offset cost of publishing)
e. 10 IAL Brochures
f. IAL vendor lists/addresses/emails and phone numbers
g. Laryngectomee Visitation Manual- booklet which includes a program for training fellow laryngectomees to be visitors through your local clubs for new laryngectomees/family members.
h. Sample stoma covers ( when available)
This month the IAL office has answered 497 webmail questions. Most of these questions vary in topic. Many are requests for assistance such as: club support or location of the closest club. Other questions are relative to how to get help for a family member or equipment for a specific person. Sometimes there are requests for aide for prosthesis or artificial larynx. Since January 1st, the IAL office and BOD members have answered at least an estimated 1247 phone calls. Often times questions asked cannot be answered through the IAL office and are directed to specific board members. We help in many ways, whether in presentations across the country or by fielding calls, messages, mailing out requests for literature/supplies to club members.
